Artist Profile
With over 50 years of professional experience, my artistic practice spans public art, painting, sculpture, light installations and video. My public art interventions focus on strengthening the relationship between civic infrastructure and the communities they serve, creating meaningful connections among neighborhoods, planners and long-term public investment. Many of these works have earned design awards and formal recognition for their innovation and social impact.
My acrylic and oil paintings draw from a lifetime of travel—palm-lined Caribbean anchorages, the wide horizons of Botswana and Zimbabwe, and the diverse architectural styles of my home city, San Diego. These experiences inform vibrant explorations of color, landscape and built environments.
In my video work, I create miniature worlds using greenscreen techniques and choreographed performances, further extending my interest in interplay between place, narrative and imagination. Across all medium, my aim is to craft visually compelling experiences that connect people to their environments and to one another.
