Fire Station 31 - “Fire Hose Frieze”

Commissioning Agency: City of San Diego

Project Description: Fire Hose Frieze is 180 feet long and is sited at the top of the perimeter wall of the facility. It is made up of more than 120 cast cement panels that depict the various patterns fire hoses create when stowed in rolling equipment for optimum deployment.

Medium: Random finished stainless steel plates

Location:  Spanning the Metrolink rails at Willis Avenue and Raymer St. in Van Nuys, CA.

Commissioning Agency: City of Los Angeles Cultural Affairs Department, Department of Transportation and Bureau of Engineering

Project Description: Six cutout designs in stainless steel panels are sighted at the tops of the vertical structures of this pedestrian bridge. The cutouts depict historical and cultural assets of the San Fernando Valley such as agriculture, the aqueduct system and aviation.
